PHILIPPINES—Typhoon Haiyan, known as Yolanda by Filipino locals, devastated Southeast Asia in November 2013, followed by the damage Typhoon Hagupit caused in December 2014. Over the past two years, CNBC members across Canada have volunteered though Canadian Global Response to provide shelter for as many families in need as possible. Two home building teams were sent in January 2015 from southern Alberta, with plans to send groups in the future as rebuilding will take time.

Help women and children in the Philippines who were affected by typhoons!

Specifically, join with other women to be a part of this joint effort with CGR and CNBC. Here are some project goals for 2015-16!

FALL 2015

  • Sewing machines, sewing lessons and sewing supply kits: Helping train women in a Filipino village to sew and become self-supporting by making a living through sewing.
  • Sewing kits: Put together kits consisting of thread, needles, scissors, pins, pin cushion, thimble, etc

CHRISTMAS 2015

  • Shoe Boxes for children, filled with personal hygiene items, small toys, school supplies, etc.

JANUARY-MARCH 2016

  • Children and youth educational materials.

EASTER 2016

  • Back to school supplies! We'll be collecting book bags and school items.
